After :: Book :: Thoughts
Facing your Giants by Max Lucado
A great epic of a nobody, who was somebody in the eyes of God, who's story begins in 1 Samuel 16 and till the final moments in the beginning of 1 Kings. Suddenly the recipe in making a warrior out of a "boy" that struck down a 9 foot tall giant, Goliath, had all the main ingredients listed in this book. If we were to read David's journey with our spiritual eyes, one would have only thought what God did was just merely empowered David's muscles and the stone to give the final blow. But actually, God was in every bit of David's life as long as God remained his king. The chapters slowly forwards to our time, here and now. To draw insights and learn from David's experiences and faith. We get overwhelmed so easily by our everyday struggles, they become the incredible giants we fail to overcome. Tried looking for answers and solutions and remedies to change in social circles? death of loved one? illnesses? heartaches? fears? Ever wonder why God had you placed in such situations? Getting paranoid. Getting frustrated and then feeling alone and depressed about life. David looked not for his inner strength, but he set his eyes on the one who was greater and mightier than Goliath. Thinking you are not really quite cut out for big challenges? Gave up too early for the fight and chose to run away? At the verge of renouncing your faith? Of having second thoughts about God that controls the universe? You will want to read this book.
